Terra-Cotta Canvas
Turn plain terra-cotta pots into springtime works of art
With the following "ingredients", you can create a fun and easy art project to blast away your winter blues.
Gather Supplies
Floral foam has a wicking action that helps the flower stem take up water, therefore maximizing the life of your cut flowers. It also provides more versatility for designing. For example, you can create arrangements that are round, asymmetrical or cascading.
Spray the Pots
Choose a container that will allow water to be added to keep the foam and flowers hydrated. Then, cut your foam to fit your container, allowing the foam to extend about 1 inch above the top of the container.
Create Glossy Surface
To soak foam, place it on the surface of a sink or dishpan of water-at least 2 quarts so it can float freely-mixed with flower food. Allow it to sink on its own. Pushing it down will form air pockets that reduce flower life. Add water and flower food every other day.
